Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Cross Stitch Pattern

This week's pattern is the first one Jesse has designed from the Star Trek universe, and I heart it so much! Right now we're slowly watching our way through all of the Star Trek series (minus the original) in chronological order, so in just a little while we'll be re-watching all of the DS9 seasons. I'm so excited! It was such a great show.

It has all of our favourite characters from the show -- Jake Sisko, Chief O'Brien, Dr. Bashir, Kira, Commander Sisko, Odo, Jadzia Dax and (my fovourite) Quark. Check out our shop to see all of our cross stitch patterns!

Moon's Creations Moon Buns - Etsy Shop Roundup

A few days ago I did a Star Trek roundup that showed an adorable moon bun from Moon's Creations . Just in case you didn't realize how flippin' wonderful these little amigurumi bunnies are, I thought I'd show you a few more of them.

Moon's Creations has done up a few of the different doctors from the Doctor Who series, and this one is my favourite. I lurve the suspenders!

Another very adorable moon bun from Star Trek. This one is Captain Kirk minus the hair-piece.

Possibly my current favourite moon bun! I love that it's a baby bun that's dressed up as a yeti. Cute + cute = sooo cute.

And lastly I found this in Moon's Creations sold orders. It's Sherlock, and he looks just perfect! I love the hair so much.

Well those just are few of Moon's Creations' little buns. Go check out her shop or blog to see even more! It's not all just bunnies -- she has everything from ducklings to ponies to narwhals.

X-Men First Class Cross Stitch Pattern

This week's pattern is another that hails from the Marvel universe. One of the first movies we watched once we got our Netflix account was X-Men: First Class. We enjoyed it (though we still liked the 2000 and 2003 X-Men films better). Check out our shop to see all of our comic book cross stitch patterns.

I love Jesse's design, especially Havok and his specially altered uniform. I think this would make a great gift for any X-Men fan once it's stitched up.

The Amazing Art of Ian Glaubing

I literally can't get enough of Ian Glaubing's art! I just found out about him yesterday and I'm already smitten! Not only is his style so adorable, but he picks the best shows and movies to illustrate. Check out what we've found!
This one is hilarious. Such a funny running gag on Arrested Development. We've even done a pattern up based on the Bluth's chicken antics.

And there's so much more. He's drawn a ton of stuff from Back to the Future, Mario Bros., Ghostbusters and even Hitchcock films.  Check out his stuff on his website or his Etsy shop. (via)

Skyrim "Arrow to the Knee" Cross Stitch Pattern

Even if you haven't played the incredibly addictive The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, I'm sure you've run across the phrase "I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow to the knee." Our latest pattern in our shop (released last Wednesday) is an homage to that poor guard.

I know Jesse is working on other Skyrim cross stitch patterns, so it'll be exciting to stitch those up too.

Star Trek - Etsy Roundup

One of my favourite Etsy shops of all time, has to be Moon's Creations. She has the knack of creating the most adorable little moon buns and giving each one of them a ton of adorability. I was super stoked to see this little guy in her shop, especially since Jesse and I have been having a Star Trek revival. Unfortunately this guy is doomed, because he's from the original series and wearing a red shirt. I'll save you Moon Bun!!!

That led me to thinking about what other Star Trek awesome there was on Etsy. I absolutely love these necklaces by Land of Rapture. They have a ton of adorable geek jewelry.

And last, but certainly not least, Wee Little Stitches (one of our favourite geek cross stitch shops) has this adorable Next Generation design.

While I'm positive there is more amazing Star Trek finds on Etsy, I didn't have time to sift through the thousands of Trekkie items out there. If you find any other Star Trek awesomes let me know!

Our Biggest Avengers Cross Stitch Pattern Yet!

Well, it's no secret that Jesse and I are big Avengers fans. We've put at least five Avengers cross stitch patterns in our shop already, but that didn't stop us from adding another 8-bit Avengers pattern to the queue this week.

This geeky cross stitch design features the core Avengers and the prologue that accompanied them at the beginning of their comics in the 70's. I find it very inspiring. I'm pretty sure I'm an Avenger now. "What? The milk is gone? I WILL AVENGER YOU, 2%!"

This can be stitched up to fit a standard 8x10 frame on 14 ct. Aida, or a 5x7 frame on 18 ct. Aida, or 4x6 on 22 ct. Aida. Whatever suits you best. Check it out!

Tracy Jordan Cross Stitch Pattern

This week's geeky cross stitch pattern is all about Tracy Jordan. It features a hilarious quote, an 8-bit inspired Tracy, and a border done up like one of his chains.

One of the best quotes from season one of 30 Rock is when Tracy tells Twofer, "Superman does good; you're doing well. You need to study your grammar, son." Stitch it up to help Tracy educate the world!

Stay tuned for next week's pattern and much more!

Cross Stitch Pattern Roundup

Here's what we've been up to the last few weeks.

I absolutely love this Firefly cross stitch pattern! It has the full cast of the late-great Firefly show (which I know we all miss -- a lot). I love the detail Jesse's put into this pattern. It has everything from Jayne's hat to Kaylee's oil smudges. And it includes one of our favourite Firefly quotes: "We have done the impossible, and that makes us mighty." Check it out in our shop!
Another pattern we've added to our shop is based on the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. I can't believe how well Johnny Depp looks in Pixel form! Check it out here.

And last but certainly not least...our first Star Wars cross stitch pattern! This design has all of our favourite characters from the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It's the biggest pattern we've released to date. Great job Jesse! Check it out over here.

Well that catches us up on our new patterns. Stay tuned to check out this Wednesday's pattern release and other neato-burrito stuff!

Another Arrested Development Cross Stitch Pattern

It's Wednesday, which means new comic books and a new cross stitch pattern in our Etsy shop! Exciting stuff is afoot!

This week's cross stitch pattern is another one based on one of our favourite TV shows - Arrested Development! We love that show big-time. This pattern goes out to all those crazy Bluth's who obviously haven't ever seen a real chicken.

Skottie Young Blog Love

Jesse is amazing, and I'm not just saying that because he's the best husband ever. In addition to making adorable cross stitch patterns he is awesome at introducing me to fantastic artists and blogs he's unearthed on the internet. My most recent blog introduction was to skottieyoung.com and I am so delighted!

Lately Skottie Young has been involved with the Avengers vs. X-Men project and has been integral to the Marvel Oz series. More than that, his daily sketches have won me over. Check out some of his work!

Isn't he the greatest? I just love that drawing of Rocket Raccoon! And that's just a tiny bit of his work. Go check him out and buy his stuff here!

Stay tuned for more of our favourite blogs, artists and patterns.

Mystery Science Theatre 3000 on Etsy

So as you might have noticed by our Wookie the Chew post, I love me some Star Wars mash-ups. This t-shirt mashes two of my favourite things - Star Wars and Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Tom Servo as R2-D2! Can it get any better?

Mystery Science Theater and Star Wars Mash-Up - via Fashionably Geek

I haven't seen that much MST3K fan art in awhile, so after finding that t-shirt I went on an Etsy bender to discover more fantastic Mystery Science stuff! Unfortunately it was a very short-lived bender. We need more awesome, people! Here's a few samples of what I found:

Tom Servo Print by TimmyK

Blank Card Set by TwoHungryBlackbirds

Tom Servo Necklace by PicaPicaPress

You can probably tell that our favourite MST3K character is little Tom Servo. Also I think that necklace would make a super bottle opener! Someone with mad metal skills should do that. I would buy it.

Stay tuned for more awesome geekery, more Cross Stitch Heroes, and more general awesomeness.

The Dark Knight Cross Stitch Pattern

Recently a super-nice customer requested us to do a custom pattern for her with some of our existing Batman characters and few that we hadn't created yet. This helped to inspire our latest Batman pattern - The Dark Knight. Thanks Rikki! Check it out:

I'm surprised at how scary I find Joker and Two-Face even in 8-bit inspired form! Love it! Stay tuned for tomfoolery, antics and lollygaggin' of all sorts.

Hope You Have Hobo Stab Insurance - Cross Stitch Pattern

Happy Wednesday! I'm so happy that I'm actually blogging about our new pattern release...on the day we actually release it! Maybe I'm starting to get the hang of this! I guess we'll see. This weeks pattern is based on another one of our favourite movies - Accepted. Jonah Hill was amazing in this flick and his one liners really made the show. Check out our 8-bit version of him and his hobo stab insurance quote.

I love it so much, especially the new font Jesse worked up. Good job, Jesse! Stay tuned for some geekery, maybe some cool pics of upcoming road-trip to Vancouver Island, and our next weeks pattern. One hint...rhymes with Smat Can - The Lark Flight.

Falling in Love with Song Lyrics Art

Since you haven't been in my living room (and if you have I believe we have some serious problems), I'll try and paint a word picture of the space. Picture a complete lack of artwork - no pictures, no photos, nothing. And now picture that in this tiny artless room there is a giant puce couch. I'm not positive what colour puce is but I'm fairly certain Ugly Couch is it. Ugly Couch got it's name because it's kinda broken, it has several odd stains including one from a disastrous avocado incident, and the cushions actually seem to be rejecting the couch and trying to make a break for the balcony.

So some time last week I decided that I was going to fill the awkward space above Ugly Couch with three different lyric art pictures. A really random idea, but it's stuck now, and all I want to do is search Etsy for the perfect three prints that are going to transform our living room from yawn to flippin' fantastic. Here are some I've found. I'd love to hear what your faves are or if you know of some other prints that might rock as much as these!

I really love these two prints from Rooney Hand Lettering! Both Jesse and I are huge Johnny Cash and The Beatles fans, so the quotes are right up our alley. I also love their hand-drawn look. Right now these ones are leading the pack. But they would definitely need a pop of colour in the third print.

Another couple of  prints I'm eyeballin' are from August Park Creative. The first is another Johnny Cash print that I like. I love the simple clean look, and length of the quote. The second print I liked had colour in it which could help out Ugly Couch Wall. Love that yellow and I heart All You Need Is Love by The Beatles so much!

Bill and Ted & Another Arrested Development Cross Stitch Pattern

Check out our new patterns in our shop!

We love Arrested Development so much that we've put another 8-bit inspired pattern based on the show in our shop. Our first Arrested Development pattern was of the whole family, but this one showcases my favourite character Buster and an iconic Buster moment. Love it Jesse!

I'm also super excited about this newest member of the Cross Stitch Heroes pattern family. Behold Bill and Ted from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. This movie was hilarious when it came out, and after a recent re-watch we were delighted to find that it holds up over time! Check out our pattern of these righteous dudes being most excellent to each other!

We also wanted to let you guys know about some of our recent shop changes. It's important for us that you know what your finished product is going to look like, so now we are showing our patterns stitched on background colours that you will be able to easily find in your local craft stores. We are also showing what the characters look like back-stitched on the natural colours, in case you find your characters aren't popping. Here's an example of our new and improved pattern look:

Star Wars & Winnie the Pooh Mash-ups

As I was trolling Pinterest this week I fell in love. I was introduced to an artist who mashes two of my very favorite things - Star Wars and Winnie the Pooh. I love his style, I love his work and I love that all the proceeds from these prints goes to paying the medical bills for his little girl. Check out some of James Hance's mash-ups!

I try and pick my favourite print, but I just can't decide. Go check them out, there's other great things to love over there. If I had little ones I would definitely put these prints in their rooms. Stay tuned for more great geek love, what we've been doing with our shop and other nifty finds.
